NEW PLAY DEVELOPMENT

Artists at Play believes in the power of storytelling to celebrate community, preserve cultural history, and inspire change. Last year we commissioned four brand-new plays that celebrate the neighborhoods we know and love. It’s bold, joyful work—and we’d love to have you join us as we bring these stories to life.

Developed as part of the AAP Playwrights Group: The Neighbohood Project, these new plays will take place throughout Los Angeles from March to June.

The AAP Emerging Playwright Commission Program supports an emerging Asian American playwright. The commission comes with a $1,000 award, institutional and artistic support to help advance their work on the commissioned play and a staged reading.

Nico Pang is a Cantonese writer and director exploring diasporic belonging, memory, and queerness as possibility.

FALL SALON

In this Filipino American reimagining of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, memory and longing haunt a family caught between duty and desire. I Loved You More Than I’d Ever Dare Tell You explores immigrant sacrifice, queer identity, and the generational wounds hidden beneath the pursuit of the American Dream.

The AAP Salon is our annual fundraiser featuring plays performed by all-star Asian American cast.
