Artists at Play’s new play development programs include the annual Artists at Play Readings, AAP Emerging Playwright Commission Program and the AAP Playwrights Group.
Since 2013, Artists at Play has provided developmental support to over a dozen writers in the Artists at Play Readings, including Boni B. Alvarez, Carla Ching, Preston Choi, Kathryn de la Rosa, Katie Đỗ, Noa Gardner, Chloé Hung, Peter J. Kuo, Victor Maog, Qui Nguyen, Rosie Narasaki, Giovanni Ortega, A. Rey Pamatmat, Lina Patel, Nicholas Pilapil, Nathan Ramos, Ankita Raturi, Sanaz Toossi, Jason Tseng, Alice Tuan and Leah Nanako Winkler.
The Two Kids that Blow Shit Up by Carla Ching, Two Mile Hollow by Leah Nanako Winkler, This is Not a True Story by Preston Choi and God Will Do The Rest by Nicholas Pilapil emerged from the Artists at Play’s new play development programs and have gone on to world premiere productions with Artists at Play and many other theatres across the country.
