A. Rey Pamatmat (Playwright) Plays include Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them (Actors Theatre of Louisville), after all the terrible things I do (Milwaukee Rep), House Rules (Ma-Yi Theater Company), Thunder Above, Deeps Below (Second Generation), A Spare Me (Waterwell), and DEVIANT. His work has been translated into Spanish and Russian, performed in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Russia, and published by Concord Theatricals, Playscripts, Cambria Press, and Vintage. Rey is the former co-director of the Ma-Yi Writers Lab, and was a PoNY, Hodder, and Princess Grace Fellow.

Reena Dutt (Director) is part of the 2026 cohort in AFI DWW+ program working on Comfort Food (IG: @comfortfoodmovie). She is dedicated to texts that catapult polarizing conversations through unexpected stories of the underheard. She directed Crossing the Desert which is currently running at film festivals. Dutt is a regional theatre director, most recently opening Yoga Play by Dipika Guha at CalRep, and Galileo’s Daughter by Jessica Dickey in the Berkshires. Her Broadway debut was The Collaboration starring Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope, working alongside director Kwame Kwei-Armah. Angela Lin (Teresa) has been seen on Broadway in the Royal National Theater’s Coram Boy, MTC’s Top Girls with Marissa Tomei and Martha Plimpton, and David Henry Hwang’s Chinglish. She starred in Little America for AppleTV+, and recurred on ABC/Hulu’s Paradise, HBO’s Made for Love, and Peacock’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. Scott Keiji Takeda (Jon) loves Artists at Play. He previously collaborated with AAP on the concert-reading of The Four Immigrants and their inaugural production of Ching Chong Chinaman. Scott most recently starred in the Off-Broadway run of SUMO at The Public Theater, reprising the role of Akio which he originated at La Jolla Playhouse. Other stage credits include Pacific Overtures (East West Players), The Great Leap (Cygnet Theatre), Valley of the Heart (Mark Taper Forum), and Next to Normal (East West Players). Onscreen credits include Made for Love (sharing a scene with superstar Angela Lin), Grey’s Anatomy, MDMA, Carrie Pilby, No-No Girl, and Huge in France.

Julia Cho (Stage Directions) is so excited to read stage directions and take the audience through this True / Story. Having acted with many LA theatre companies over the years, mainstage performances include the world premiere productions of The Bottoming Process by Nicholas Pilapil (dir. Rodney To) and This Is Not a True Story by Preston Choi (dir. Reena Dutt). Other credits include films Fool’s Paradise and Larry Crowne; recurring roles on TV shows like This Is Us, Goliath, Scandal; and Emmy-winning web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. You can also hear Julia’s English-dubbing roles in Korean content across major streaming platforms.

Brandon Cheng (Stage Manager) is excited to help present this reading with Artists at Play. He’s a San Francisco native and a graduate of CSULB with a BA in Technical Theatre.
